Huzzah to this year’s Small Press of the Year Award finalists! Katie and I love this prize most of all, as it shines a well-deserved spotlight on the talent, passion, and ingenuity that indies have in spades.
The publishers on this list are bold and brave, and all are in this amazing game to champion emerging authors and foster diverse voices, and to find the stories that children will read, or listen to, and carry in their hearts forevermore.
We’ve set aside an extra-special sprinkle of love for Noodle Juice and Scallywag Press, whose beautiful books blazed the trail as our very first Darling Buds audio productions. With an innate sense of story and an eye for outstanding design, Sarah P and Sarah W contribute to the publishing landscape with style and a smile, and reflect the essence of what makes small presses indispensable to the literary community in the UK and overseas.
